Meet our Team:

Kody Milewski has had a passion for miniature railroads since he was a boy. His mother and grandparents took him to visit Tiny Town and Railroad and the Royal Gorge Scenic Railway which carried his enthusiasm for trains into adulthood. Kody started volunteering at Tiny Town and Railroad in 2016 which quickly turned into the position of the lead mechanic where he continues to work to this day. He came across our first fifteen inch gauge locomotive, a C.P. Huntington from the Desert Breeze Park in Chandler, Arizona while on vacation in 2016. It wasn't long till we found our rail and had wooden gondola's and a caboose built by our neighbor and friend, Gary Novechek. Thus our private railroad got named the Owl Canyon Railway located on our ranch in northern Colorado.

In August of 2018, we received a phone call from the realtor of the old Buckskin Joe property. We had visited the property a year prior to see if we could find a way to purchase the whole lot; unfortunetly we couldn't pursue it further. He had told us that the new owners were not interested in the trains, thus they could be sold seperate. We made an offer on the trains, rail, all the tools and extra parts that come the trains and the billionare, who purchased the whole Buckskin Joe property and moved the historic buildings to his personal ranch, Bill Koch, accepted our offer. We are now the proud owners of the Royal Gorge Scenic Railway (RGSR). We are still working on bringing the rest of the equiment and rail back to our ranch. We have until December 31, 2018 to have everything removed from the property. Because this has been such a huge investment, thanks to the Thomas family, we have started a fundraiser to help with our relocation costs.

Our future goal is to create a miniature railway muscuem and open to the public in Northern Colorado. Ways you can help include, but is not limited to, volunteering to help with the removal of the rail, which is physically demanding work, donating to help us with the costs of relocation, or sharing our fundraiser with your friends.

We would appreciate any and all support you can offer.

Kate Thomas owns and operates Owl Canyon Horse Services (soon to have a name change to On Track Horsemanship) where she teaches both children and adults all aspects of horsemanship and riding. She owns 8 horses, two of which are the cutest miniature horses, Biscuit and Gravy! Kate has a passion for all types animals, but goats and horses are very close to her heart. She owns a small herd of Nigerian Dwarf goats which will be available for cuddles in our petting zoo during Holiday Train Rides! She also owns rabbits and a couple dogs. She, like Kody, fell in-love with the train parks from Arizona. She enjoys giving people rides on horseback and horse-drawn carraiges. She thought a joint club of horseback riding and a miniature train club would be a fun and unique experience for northern Colorado; specifically the growing town of Wellington! She has called Wellington home, with her parents David and Debbie Thomas, since 2003.

Meet Our Locomotive: Owl Canyon Cannonball

The Cannonball came from a park in Chandler Arizona, called "Desert Breeze Railroad".
It was a 16 inch gauge gas powered engine that made it's journey home to us on 11/5/16!
It has been regauged to 15 inch and will under go a new paint job in the future.

Our Track:

Our private track loop is about 1,400 feet in length. We have a shed that serves as a tunnel.
It's a dog-bone like loop, that offers beautiful views of the rocky mountains and meandures
through some trees, which keeps our short loop interesting. The track has mostly 2% grades
which adds to the uniqueness of our railway.

In the future, we would also like to add a miniature western or mining town, a pond,
expand the picnic area and add more landscaping.
